INSTITUTE OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND MECHANICS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IAMM NASU) - a scientific institution that is part of the organizational structure of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) and directly to the Department of Mathematics, National Academy of Sciences.

main purpose of the Institute - the implementation of basic and applied research in mathematics, mechanics and cybernetics in order to obtain new knowledge in these fields, creating and exploring new mathematical models and their application in modeling various physical processes, management and promotion scientific, technical, socio-economic and spiritual development of Ukraine.
The Institute was founded in 1965 as Donetsk Center of USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1970. renamed the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of NAS of Ukraine. Located on the inception of the city of Donetsk, is currently at R. Luxemburg str 74, 83114, Donetsk.

Structural subdivisions of the institute is 9 scientific departments and laboratories 2: Department of Nonlinear Analysis, equations of mathematical physics, theory of functions (including the laboratory optimization of polynomial approximations and splines), partial differential equations, probability theory i of Mathematical Statistics, Applied mechanics, technical mechanics, analytical methods of rocks, the theory of control systems (including laboratory Discrete Mathematics and Applied Algebra). The Institute operates a special design and technological office management systems (SKTB SD).

Institute conducts basic research in the following areas:

  • theory of differential equations and partial differential operators, structural and geometric function theory, theory of random processes and mathematical statistics, rigid body dynamics, stability theory and control, mechanics of rocks;
  • modeling, identification and recognition control systems.

founder of the Institute and its first director in the period 1965-1974 he was teaching. AN USSR, Honored Scientist of Ukraine Ivan Daniluk. He invited the Institute to lead its main research areas of outstanding scientists in the fields of mathematics, mechanics, and Cybernetics: USSR Academy of Sciences Academician Ya.B. Lopatinskii, corresponding member of USSR Academy of Sciences J. I. Hihmana, GD Suvorov, P.V . Varlamov, RAPN Academician, Professor, Ph.D. AM Bogomolov, who founded the leading research areas and formed a well-known schools. During 1974-1977 he headed the Institute AM Bogomolov. From 1977 to February 2, 2005 permanent director of the institute was teaching. Nano IV Skrypnyk. After the death Acad. Nano IV Skrypnyk Institute is headed by Cor. Nan A. Kovalev.

    Institute scientists extracted the fundamental points of the results are known both in Ukraine and abroad.

Results of Fundamental Research Institute became the basis of a number of unique application development performed in many sectors of the economy of Ukraine and Russia: energy, coal, mounting and gas industry, space exploration, metallurgy, engineering and medicine. Examples of such developments is the establishment of operational control systems and automation of the main modes of monoblock supercritical pressure thermal power plants that are introduced in a number of TPP Donbass and AK Kyivenergo, develop ways to manage traffic near methane degassing wells, cracks hidrorozryvu and mines that are introduced in a number of Ukraine mine development in the field of dynamics related bodies embedded in Yuzhnoye, which are used in the design of spacecraft, the work in the field of mathematical problems of cybernetics and technical diagnostics of digital devices were introduced in Saratov enterprises that develops on-board computing and measurement in SRI Research Center (m.Zelenohrad - Soviet "Silicon Valley"), a number of enterprises in Donbass and Ukraine.
High appropriate research provided qualified personnel, including 27 doctors and 42 candidates of science (respectively 34% and 55% of the total number of researchers). 3 Cor. NAS of Ukraine. Great attention is paid to the Institute for the training of young scientific personnel - work and doctorate courses, and two Special Board of doctoral and master's theses of the major specialties.

Institute issued interagency Collected Works "Nonlinear boundary problem" (1989), "Solid Mechanics" (from 1969), "Proceedings of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (since 1997). Since 1999. they referuyutsya in European international refereed journal "Zentralblatt MATH". The Institute publishes and participates in publishing magazines "Ukrainian Mathematical Gazette" (English version of "Ukrainian mathematical bulletin" distributed AMS), "Theory of Stochastic Processes" (distributed AMS). Since its establishment the Institute scientists published about 80 books synthesis, including more than 20 tools in foreign languages.
